Potential Joe Custom: Clone Wars Turbo Tank and Pit Mobile Headquarters

Toy Fair 2009 was a chance to take a gander at the upcoming releases from Hasbro. I was not so keen on the GI Joe Pit Mobile Headquarters as it is essentially, a playset.

I may be of the old school variety but, if I had a mobile HQ, I would not let intruders get near it, let alone allow someone take a peek into it. Layered, onion skin defence and all that. It reminded me of Fort America, a tank that transforms into what seems to be an inner city ghetto with guns. Why would I have a mobile headquarters that transforms into a building without walls?
At least it has Table Tennis! I am also sure it comes with satellite TV. Well, it could serve as a mobile R&R centre. Interesting.

At any rate, I do see potential in it. It does have a wide base and driver/navigator cockpits. I guess I could do some welding here and there. At the very least, it should make an adequate troop carrier. Who knows.

The best would still be the old Mobile Command Centre:

It had a C3, luxurious driver/gunner positions, motor pool, vehicle juice, weapons rack, escape slide, missiles, large radar, and storage space. Best of all, It has walls!

I wonder which of the 2 would have been more cost efficient. Well, I may not be holding my breath but I will look out for the Pit when it becomes available.

Toy Fair 2009 also had another gem but, this time, it is from the Star Wars universe.

I was not expecting this to be this interesting. The minimal interior and rotating gun station is a customizer’s dream! The interesting features are the dual cockpit, removable bunker with rotating gun station, hidden rocket packs that fits flush unto the sides, a sizeable troop compartment with gun rack, a crow’s nest, and a separate empty compartment.

I definitely see potential here. Empty spaces means troop compartment or Command and Control Centre. The smaller compartment can be cargo or even a holding cell. The crow’s nest makes a good spotter/sniper OP. The removable bunker is, well, a removable bunker.

A little bit of Olive Green or Cobra Blue here, a few well placed sigil or “United States” decals there, and this will make an excellent Joe/Cobra Custom!

Now, I’ll reserve speculation on the launching speeder bike. If an LCV or a motorcycle fits, then its future is made.
This is one new toy I can simply not wait to customize.
Well done, Hasbro!
